To help the school cut down on the significant cost of printing in color, you can create a "Mono" preset to ensure you are not printing in color.

Note: If the Toshiba driver has not be installed on your laptop, it can be downloaded by logging onto the file server and selecting "Shared Applications" in the first window that pops up after logging in. Drag the Toshiba file to your desktop and launch it, than follow the instructions to install it. Once the install is complete you can delete the file.

Here are the instructions for creating the preset:

1. Open a Word or other MS Office document and go to Print.

2. Ensure the Toshiba copier is selected in the list of printers

3. Click on the "Copies & Pages" option and select "Color Settings 1" in the list that appears.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 274px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_f84cad-bmGc/Se45fNa899I/AAAAAAAAAEY/KqaLY6mdbgU/s320/colorset.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5327258617567311826" />

4. Set the "Color Type" option to "Mono".

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 295px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_f84cad-bmGc/SmC1Ul0BEcI/AAAAAAAAAEw/JGdihEYo0To/s320/mono1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5359482921923187138" />

5. Go up to "Preset" and than choose "Save As". When prompted type in "Mono" to name the preset.

6. The next time you print to the Toshiba, select the Mono preset, and than hold down the Option key as you click Print.

Looking Up Student Logins

Click on the image below to read instructions for looking up student usernames/passwords:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_f84cad-bmGc/R_Zr4TvdlNI/AAAAAAAAAC8/-15owfyyWTY/s200/logins.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5185450636079895762" />

Technology Reservation System Instructions

Below are instructions for the technology reservation system:

1. Close down any software you are running.

2. Select the Appple menu in the upper left corner and choose "restart".

3. When your screen goes black hold down the Apple and S keys.

4. When white lettering appears on the screen, let up on the Apple and S keys.

5. When the lines quit scrolling, type in the following exactly as shown: /sbin/fsck -fy

(note: one space should be between the k and hypen)

6. Press Return. It can take a few minutes for this utility to run, you will eventually get a message saying your hard drive "appears to be OK" , or a message saying it has been "changed/modified/repaired".

7A. If it's "OK" type in reboot and press Return.

7B. If you are told something has been changed/modified/repaired, press the Up arrow key and the Return key.

8. Repeat 7B until you get the "OK" message. Then do step 7A.

Note: Even if you get the "OK" message the first time around, several problems and/or potential problems have been fixed.
To make this a smooth process be sure to jot down or print out the steps so you can easily reference them.

Making Sure You Are On The City High Network

Every once and a while a signal from a neighboring wireless network will be strong enough that your laptop will connect to it without you knowing it happened. In some cases you can actually access the internet over one of these connections, but you aren't able to print or access our file server. You can check to see if you are on the City High network by clicking on the Airport strength icon in the upper right corner of your desktop as shown below:

Make sure the "City High Wireless" network is selected. Enter the password if you are prompted and select the option to remember the password. (Sensitive information such as passwords will not be posted online.
